I am sharing a project or list with a new client email address, but I get an error.
When you share a project or list using an email address that is not yet registered in your office's (client) user list, the system will indicate that a new client user account will be created:
However, after reviewing the email content in the next step and clicking "Share," you may still encounter an error message in the bottom right corner of the screen:
"User with email ____ already exists in different tenant"
User Already Exists
The reason for this error is that a user with the same email address already exists in YouProvide, but under a different firm that also uses the platform. Unfortunately, users cannot log in with the same email address across multiple firms at this time.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, you will need to use a different email address for this user. While this may not be ideal for the user, it does allow them to log in to lists from different firms.
If the client uses Microsoft or Google email systems, there is an effective workaround. By adding a '+' sign followed by a unique identifier to the email address, YouProvide will create a new, unique email address. Emails sent from YouProvide will still be delivered to the user's original mailbox without the added identifier.
Example
Consider a user with the email address peter@vanbuijten.com who is utilizing Google email servers. If you share your project with the email address peter+acc@vanbuijten.com, any emails sent from YouProvide will still arrive in Peter's original inbox at peter@vanbuijten.com. The only difference is that Peter will use the email address peter+acc@vanbuijten.com to log in to your PBC lists.
